A Perspective on Suffering

2 Timothy 1:8-18

Whether you believe in Jesus or not, if you live on planet earth, you will suffer. Or as Cheryl said: ‘You’re just going to have to suffer!” We see this clearly displayed in the life of Paul; his was a life of imprisonment and suffering after coming to faith in Jesus. But he chose to draw closer to Jesus and grow in his faith, rather than reacting and giving up. In 2 Timothy 1:8-18, he passes on these important truths to Timothy and gives us his unique perspective on suffering: God doesn’t always alleviate our suffering, but He does enter into it, give purpose to it, comfort us in it, and give us eternal rewards and promises to hold onto.
