Pastor Char begins Matthew 6 and his study about good works by reminding us of the primary purpose of the Sermon on the Mount—to make us into WHOLE people as we follow the way of Jesus. God wants to mold us into people of character. He desires that we become men and women who actually do mercy (service, feeding, helping, caring, healing) because that’s the kind of people we are—those who do righteousness for the right reasons because God’s own Spirit is at work in us.
