Fasting and Righteousness

October 29, 2023

Pastor Richard Cimino continues our series in the Sermon on the Mount, teaching on the what, when, and why of fasting. Self-denial is certainly not a common practice in our culture, yet we as Christians are called to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow our Savior. According to this passage, fasting is not an if but a "when." This spiritual discipline prompts us to feed on Jesus, the Word of life, and reveals the things that control us. Fasting is the expression of our desperate desire for his sovereign rule to be experienced in our lives and in the world just as it is in heaven.
